Our Vision:

In today’s society Biblical values and principles are being corroded and usurped, the person of Jesus Christ is being relegated to merely a historical figure and faith is becoming whatever works for you.  Materialism, consumerism, pleasure and self are what society would tell us are important.

 And to our shame, to our detriment and to our judgment as Christians we all too easily and too often buy into the values, attitudes and lifestyle of the world.  We look to others, to our intellect or to society for guidance, for truth, for strength when we should look instead to Him who is the way, the truth and the life; Jesus Christ. 

 How can we not but look to Jesus Christ after His atoning work on the Cross has brought us from alienation from God into a personal relationship with the creator of the world and has moved us from condemnation and death to righteousness and life?  This is the Gospel and it is an undeniable reality with the power to transform.  And we should ask ourselves if the way we live reflects and demonstrates this Gospel because the radical transforming reality of the Gospel demands nothing less than our total obedience and total transformation.

 Thus the vision for Awaken can be nothing less than to see the total and complete transforming reality and power of the Gospel fully at work in each of us.

Encourage, equip and support the use of spiritual gifts

Awaken seeks to see every believer identifying and using their God given spiritual gifts to build up the body of believers. We are committed to providing teaching, training and opportunities to serve God and each other.

Be a powerful evangelism tool

Awaken is committed to growing God’s kingdom.  We aim to provide a contemporary church service that youth and youth adults would feel comfortable to inviting non-Christians to.  We support all evangelism ministries attached to Awaken, particularly outreach to our local high school.  We provide teaching and training for evangelism, and the opportunity for believers to witness their commitment to following Christ through testimony and baptism.

Encourage fellowship and the formation of close, accountable and meaningful friendships

We recognise the spiritual importance of belonging  to a body of believers and the immense benefit to personal faith that accountable friendships have.  We seek to encourage and foster such relationships through connections with small groups and post service fellowship over supper and the opportunity of serving together.
